"I Mean,"

Audio movie, duration: 00:05:07

Jenny Grönvall&Robert Ek

It’s kind of dark in here, isn’t it?

It’s really not the perfect room for an exhibition, I wouldn’t say. I mean the room’s got too much of it’s own character.

You can’t really hang these big paintings anywhere, can you?

I mean, to me the room in itself has it’s own story.

It’s a really beautiful room.

It’s got loads of history, already.

And it represents, I guess, Swedish tradition or history in a way.

I find it really hard to figure out how to put these things here.

I mean, they have their own history, haven’t they.

I mean, you probably have to dismiss the room completely, cause it’s hard to work with it.

The roof’s low.

And all the dark wood absorbs all of the light.

Hmm…

I mean, if you look at the door over there it doesn’t really fit, does it.

I mean, how do you hide all these pipes on the wall, do you.

Ok, maybe I’ll take a walk there.

Maybe I’ll get another perspective.

I mean, it doesn’t make it any easier the fact that you can’t put any nails in the wall.

I mean, take this white cupboard.

Or what is it?

Ohh…

I mean this concrete lump on the left side.

I mean, if I put something on it, what would happen then?

Would the thing I put on it be absorbed by the room’s history, or..?

I guess, in this case you can either work with the room, or against it.

And in the moment... In this moment it seems that the room is working against me.

I mean, look at the lights.

They are so low that they actually blind you, almost.

How are you supposed to see the stuff here anyway?

And here to the right is this wooden door and it goes directly out.

What if somebody opened it and fell out.

Or maybe you could think in principles.

Like…

Maybe you shouldn’t care that that the wall looks like it does and just hang the bloody painting on it.

You know like: Paintings hang on the wall, don’t they.

Like: bam, bam, bam.

One there.

I mean, it’s not…

It’s not my problem that these wooden beams are in the way, what if they hit me in the head.

I mean, the room’s kind of nice in a way.

Yes…

Yes, I think that’s it.

I’d probably keep it quite clean.

Not..

I mean, you couldn’t rebuild the room, could you.

That would be kind of pathetic.

Or putting material on the wall.

I mean any material: wood, cotton.

What about this corner down there.

Maybe you can put something on this white clean wall by the door.

Like, all the paintings on this one door.

The windows don’t really help, do they.

I mean, if you look here to the left.

This strange window on the wall on the back

What’s that there for?

It’s a completely different window.

Or it’s not even a window; it’s just a piece of glass in the wall.

To fight this room or to keep it.

Maybe there is no option really.

What do you think?
